Friends of St. Jude, the growing group of Birmingham-based young professionals united in the fight against childhood cancer, will kick off the 2009-2010 year with “Downtown after Dark” at Café DuPont (113 20th Street North) on Thursday, September 24th from 5 to 9 pm.
Admission will be $5 for Friends of St. Jude members and $10 for non-members, with proceeds supporting research and treatment initiatives at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Members will get in free if they bring a friend who joins! Young professionals in the Birmingham area are encouraged to attend this event, which aims at raising critical funds for children’s cancer research while providing a constructive forum for professional networking.
The Birmingham chapter of Friends of St. Jude officially launched in September 2008 and has since hosted several networking events and the 2009 Blues Ball for members and potential members, each drawing in over 100 attendees. Those attending “Downtown After Dark” will enjoy complimentary beer, appetizers, giveaways, and can enjoy football on the big screen.
